We’re a Korean-inspired, veteran-owned bodega that’s focused on nourishing Savannah and Pooler, creating community and connecting hearts with international comfort food.
From Food Truck to Bodega
In 2016, Kay Heritage — a South Korean-born Army veteran — launched Savannah's first wood-fired pizza food truck. What started as a pop-up became a full neighborhood bodega in the Starland District, then a second home in Pooler.
Have You Eaten?
In Korean culture, "Have you eaten?" isn't small talk — it's how you say "I care about you." That simple phrase is the emotional foundation of everything at Big Bon, from the way Kay greets regulars to the scratch-made ingredients that go into every dish.
A Chef's World in One Kitchen
Chef Shahin Afsharian trained under Joël Robuchon, earned a Michelin star, and cooked at the British and French Embassies — before bringing it all to a neighborhood bodega in Savannah. His menu pulls from Korean, French, Mediterranean, and Vietnamese traditions.
Made From Scratch, Every Time
Every bagel, bowl, and pizza is made in small batches with non-GMO flour, local honey, and no seed oils. Whether it's the Korean Mama Sandwich (Guy Fieri's favorite) or a Beef Bulgogi Bowl, you can taste the difference.
National Spotlight, Neighborhood Heart
Big Bon has been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Good Morning America, Southern Living, and Travel + Leisure, and earned the 2026 Georgia Small Business ROCK STAR Award. The real measure of success? The regulars who walk through the door every week.
